Little things make a big difference

One of the first tutorial sites I came across was Photoshopstar. I have done quite a few of them, despite a bit of a struggle because of language differences. Once I got past that, I could usually deduce whatever was missing, not explained as well as I needed, etc. The big struggle, however, was a very little thing—shadow mode lighting in the Bevel and Emboss style when I was trying to recreate the Bee Movie text. Whenever a tutorial doesn't come out right, I try to go back and check every little thing. This little thing, however, escaped me for the longest. I was so frustrated I was on the verge of starting from scratch when I found the problem: I had not switched from normal light to soft light.
